Crabby Cannisters Two Crabby Cannisters fresh out of the kiln - you saw them In Progress - check out the interior pic as well! Even though I waxed both the rim of the lid, and where it sits on the base, these were stuck shut because of the natural shrinkage of clay during the firing process. This is why you generally fire the pieces together - so the lids still fit after firing. Because the pieces expand and contract during the firing process, you take the risk of the pieces ending up warped and they'll no longer fit together. - one rubber mallet later - and some good taps around the rim and they're open!
